The AVR-1708 surround sound receiver is network ready and can integrate into a home networked system when used with the optional ASD-3W/3N iPod docks, allowing more sources for playback then ever before. HDMI v1.3a video switching has been employed for today's demanding HD sources providing rich color quality for 1080p signals. Digital audio is distributed by either optical or coaxial connections to high speed surround processing circuits, for premium quality Dolby Digital and dts Digital decoding. Seven high current style amplifiers are used in the AVR-1708 to deliver clean clear performance for unmatched sound quality from your DVD or set top box digital devices. Analog video up conversion makes switching various types of analog video signals easy, as duplicate wiring can be eliminated and signals channeled into one single component video output. Audio Delay is provided to allow for exact matching of audio and video signals when signal delays occur from some audio video sources. Our newly styled pre-programmed remote control provides ease of use for the newcomer, or enhanced use for the seasoned user.

10-Channel Equal Power
10-Channel Equal Power is a feature in some of Denon’s high-end receivers and power amplifiers. These fully configurable amplifiers provide many combinations. Some examples are:

2 way RC
2-Way Remote capability allows the status information and current mode of a receiver or pre-amp to be shown directly on the display of the remote for ease of control without looking on the front panel of the receiver or pre-amp, or on the display. This allows multi zone operation and control without being in direct line of sight with the receiver, pre-amp or display which is perfect for RF control. (RC-7000CI & RC-7001RCI required and is also dependent on the Denon receiver or pre-amp used.)

24-bit/192-kHz D/A (digital-to-analog) Converters
These high speed, high accuracy digital-to-analog converters extract all the information contained in today’s high density digital sources. They convert 192,000 24-bit digital words per second into analog signals to extract the highest definition audio sound. They are fully capable of converting any signal from a DVD-Audio disc as well as providing superior reproduction from conventional CD, CD-R/CD-RW discs. Today’s converters also provide exceptional dynamic range and are largely free of “clock jitter,” a time-based inaccuracy that plagued earlier D/A converters.

5.1-, 6.1-, 7.1-Channels
A surround processor, or receiver, may produce 6, 7, or 8 channels of output, depending on the source and type of surround processing. The basic surround format (“5.1” surround) includes three full-range front channels (left, right and center), two full-range surround channels (left surround and right surround), and a low-frequency, or subwoofer channel. Because the subwoofer channel carries only the lowest octaves compared to the five full-range speakers, it is called the “.1” channel. A “6.1-channel setup” adds a separate full-range “center back” speaker to the 5.1 array. A “7.1”-channel system includes two “back” channels in addition to the surround channels.

6-Channel Equal Power
6-Channel Equal Power connects 6 speakers independently without requiring separate power amps for the pre-outs. It complements Dolby Digital EX and dts ES sound modes, allowing you to connect the 'surround back' speaker straight off the main amplifier without adding a power amplifier to support 6.1 surround formats. With built-in separate internal amplifiers to power each channel independently, this feature allows you to enjoy the same high power output capability per channel, giving a balanced and truly high-impact surround-sound environment.
