Rated 5 out of 5 by Tiana from Amazing Sound !! I was really excited when my Heos speaker arrived. The speaker is a nice size but not so big that it would take up too much space. The speaker can also be placed both horizontally or vertically . The set up was pretty simple though I did have some minor issues with the App where I had to delete and re-download it. It took several minutes for the whole process but it was definitely worth it. The sound quality was amazing. Very crisp quality. My first thought was this would be perfect for a party. I also liked the fact that I could control the speaker from my phone from changing songs to the volume. This speaker is amazing and I would recommend it .

Rated 1 out of 5 by ABQ_Patrick from Unreliable system Had a full HEOS system (AVR-X4300H, HEOS-3 speakers, and HEOS Link) installed by Best Buy Geek Squad. Plenty of trouble on installation and setup including multiple attempts to load receiver software. Now, HEOS-3 speakers refuse to group with AVR and each other, and will play media sometimes but not all. Unplayable media includes CD, radio, internet streaming, iPhone content. Enormously frustrating experience. I'm about ready to return all equipment. However, when it works, the sound is fabulous. But this equipment should work out of the box and have high reliability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeff98052 from Sound is excellent functionality of app is spot on We've been running them for 2 years now. They have been unbelievably flawless now for several months. The last update really fixed a lot of things. On the app, they brought back the master volume. Very key for whole house audio. We run 2 HEOS 7s, 10 HEOS 3s, and 2 HEOS 1s. All of them over wi-fi 2.4GHz and as a single zone. However, we do have our house wired with four high capacity prosumer/commercial grade Wi-fi APs. When we had only one home router (e.g., $200+ ASUS), the connection was iffy and the router would burn out after a couple of months. If HEOS would produce a real subwoofer, I'd add one or two of them to the rooms we hang out most in, but until then. It's still a nice way to live.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jasafpro from Great Sound ... but Pro: sound is good, we are very pleased. A lot of choices for were to get music from. Con: The app needs work. A good deal of the audio sources are subscriber based, and they are all optional. Have a way to customize this screen to reduce clutter making it easier to find the music or source you are looking for. Moving audio for the Heos to the receiver didn't work they way it did in the video, the receiver started playing the previous started queue. And the Heos kept playing. transitioning between rooms should work, or be easier. Also the volume should be normalized between the rooms, so when in transition it is seamless. An added feature that should be considered is an Alarm, tunein android app includes this but not the tunein source in the heos app. This would be a killer feature and possibly allow me to replace my wifes bose stereo. Not sleek enough, shape is a little awkward according to my wife, the home designer.

This is the smallest of the HEOS speakers, and it works wonderfully for amazing sound in 1 room, and with the way my floorplan is I can listen 3 rooms over. I have my speaker in my kitchen, and has excellent bass response for it's size. The App is also user friendly, and works well with other music services apps. The App was so easy to set up.I am also impressed by the list of service apps that work with this speaker. If you are looking for a great home speaker for one room or multiple rooms then look no further. This is a great find, and we are really pleased with it. I love the way it looks in my kitchen. The design of it allows for several different display options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Caitlin727 from Surprising sound quality for its size. Both the Android and Apple apps were easy to set up and use. It's compatible with a personal music collection as well as streaming music apps such as Pandora and iHeart Radio, which are built right into the HEOS app. The speaker has a built-in USB port that enables you to play even more of your music collection than you have stored on your phone. The speaker can be heard in other rooms in an average size house. Additionally, it has separate bass and treble adjustments to tailor the sound to the type of music you are listening to. A nice improvement would be a pause feature instead of the mute button that is located directly on the speaker so that you do not miss any music when forced to interrupt play. I was unable to connect to a hidden network after setting it up because I could not find the option to type in a network name (SSID) manually; it only brings up the ones it can find, not hidden networks. Outside of this minor issue, the app is quite user friendly, and I am extremely satisfied with the performance and quality of this speaker!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by brooklynfoo from Powerful sound from a relatively small unit This is a good speaker. Requires a few minutes of setup to connect to your device, but works fine once connected. I think it could benefit from an on/off button for those who dont want it left on permanently. Also, I understand that its a powerful unit so I see why its not battery powered, though it would be amazing if it had a battery pack to take on the go as an option as well.

Why would you put the heos badge on the receiver if this was not possible? Hopefully this can be fixed with a future firmware update

I just purchased a Heos 3 and have it in the same network with a marantz receiver.  When the heos 3 is connected (on) the marantz receiver sound shuts on and off every like 3 seconds. If I disconnect the Heos 3 the problem goes away.

I have one Heos 3, purchased about 2 years ago and now I notice Amazon has some listed as (Old version, discontinued by manufacturer), I'm assuming mine is an old version? What is the difference between an old vs. new version?

Hey RRmcg507, To verify if you have an old version or new version please note the old version would have a reset button and the new version would have a Bluetooth button. As for the differences between the two is the HS2 supports Bluetooth and a bitrate of 24 while the HS1 does not and only supports a bitrate of 16. Can you use heos 3 outside mounted on the wall of a covered patio? Meaning rain will never get to it but it will be exposed to outside air and temps.

Hey Striker, To answer your question, no. This unit is not capable of doing a 7.1 wireless surround setup using four HEOS 3 speakers. Only the HEOS AVR and HEOS BAR are capable of doing a 5.1 wireless surround.

Can the HEOS 3 play audio from an HDMI input from a AVR-X4400H? For example, I have one zone with the AVR connected to 5.1.4 wired speakers playing a blu-ray movie or cable TV. Can I simultaneously play the audio with the HEOS 3 and the wired speakers?

Hey Lee, So technically it can but only if it's 2 channel PCM audio from the HDMI source. So you would not be able to get 5.1.4 in the main zone and play the HDMI audio to the HEOS 3 as a secondary zone at the same time.
