Rated 5 out of 5 by from Massive improvement I have been using a Onkyo amp for the past 9 years and enjoyed its sound quality very much....Until I bought this Denon last week on a whim while in Best Buy. All I can say is WOW...I am impressed and glad I did. It rreally brings out so much more in my Klipsch subwoofer and Boston Acoustics speakers. Excellent choice and a big thanks for the recommendation from the Best Buy rep.

Can software updates be done via wifi. I have AT&T Direct TV and they do not offer internet service at this time. I have a hot spot and was wondering if using my hotspot is a viable solution. If not can the download be done thru my computer? If so how?

Asked by: David B
Hi David. This unit does support WiFi and can be updated using a WiFi connection. You should be able to use your WiFi hotspot to update the firmware, but in your case it may be better to do the update via USB instead. You can find the latest firmware for your model on our website at the link below. Please be sure to carefully follow the update instructions that are downloaded with the firmware. Thanks! https://usa.denon.com/us/downloads/productupdates

Can i use 3ohm impedance speakers as surround speakers?

Asked by: Andre777
Hi Andre777. It wouldn’t be recommended to use 3 ohm speakers with the AVR-X1300W, as this receiver has been rated for performance with speakers whose impedance are between 4 and 16 ohms. This is especially true when mixing speaker impedances, because the lower-impedance speaker(s) will draw more current from the unit, which also means more heat will be generated by the receiver’s power amps that are powering the low-impedance speakers. In turn, the more heat that is generated, the greater the chance of the unit entering protection mode, or possibly being damaged as a result. Otherwise using speakers with mixed impedances isn't generally a problem, emphasizing that they must be between 4-16 ohms. Audyssey can compensate for the different levels to ensure a proper mix. Be sure to run the Audyssey calibration for best results.

Do the multi-channel coax/optical inputs mix down to 2 channels for Zone 2 operation?

Asked by: bwit
Hi bwit. The AVR-X1300W is not able to output digital audio on zone 2 independently. However you can use All Zone Stereo mode to play any source in the main zone and zone 2 simultaneously.

I am looking at the 1300W, I know it supports 4K but doesnt provide video upgrade to 4K. If I am running a Blu Ray player that already does this video upgrade will that still process through the 1300W with the upgraded video.

Asked by: FlashEMT
Hi FlashEMT. If you send a 4k signal into the AVR-X1300W it will pass through without any processing. Sending a 4k signal from your blu-ray player to the AVR should work just fine. Thanks!

hi, 1. can i turn off Bluetooth and wifi on the Receiver when not using them? 2. can i work with the Receiver in stereo mode? 3.are there any specs i need to look for in speakers if i want to work in stereo mode?

Asked by: dave2017
Hi Dave. Sorry but there is no way to disable Bluetooth and WiFi when they are not in use. You should be able to use just about any speaker, but if there's any spec to look for, just make sure the speaker can handle the power output of the AVR. The 8 ohm power rating for the AVR-X1300W is 80 watts.

Hi, I would like to use zone 2 pre-outs for stereo speakers in my other room. Are these zone 2 pre-outs powered outputs? In other words, can I directly connect them to the speaker selector unit? Or do I need an additional external amp?

Asked by: RA_Explorer
The zone 2 pre-outs are not speaker level outputs. You would need to use an external amplifier to power the speakers in the other room.

Hi - I have a 1080p TV (and not a 4K) - will this receiver work in that TV? In addition, I have a DVD player that works with A/V RCA cable. how about that. Thanks for your time

Asked by: osmal1
Hello. The AVR-X1300W is capable of passing resolutions up to 4k, but is also able to pass 1080p and lower as well. There will be no problem using this with a 1080p TV. This model does not have any video conversion, so if you do connect a DVD player with AV RCA cables, you will need to use the same video connection out of the AVR into the TV, and select the corresponding input on the TV in order to watch your DVD. To be clear, that means that if you use a yellow video connection from the DVD player to the AVR-X1300W, you must use the yellow monitor output from the AVR to the TV. The signal will not be output through HDMI.

I have an AVR-2802/982, 2002 model which I want to replace with an HDMI compatible receiver. Currently I have 8 speaker out puts with front L & R, A & B for 2 rooms. How will the AVR-X300W 7.2 channel compare?

Asked by: curmummified64
The AVR-X3300W would be an upgrade in power and features over your old AVR, and will be able to have a 5.1 surround zone with a 2nd zone, and also offers a speaker B amp assign configuration. This would be a good replacement for your current receiver.
